College President’s New Year Message, 2024

Season’s greetings to the esteemed Fellows, Members, and administrative staff of this prestigious College.

As we end another remarkable year, it is again that time for us to look back and marvel at our work and plan for the next year. I am certainly proud of what we have achieved together in the past one year and I would like to wholeheartedly thank the Secretary General and his entire team for their hard work and dedication, and of course thanks go to all Fellows without whose support and contributions we could not have made the achievements.

First, I would like to congratulate the Togo Chapter for hosting a magnificent and joyous 2023 Annual and General Scientific Meeting (AGSM). Bravo! The increased use of French, including French translations, as was witnessed at the 2023 AGSM in Togo, brings tremendous joy to my heart. This is a key step in creating a truly West African College.

We live in a rapidly changing world with increased use of digital technology. As such, we are trying to follow the trend and make the College more modern.  Gradually, we have increased the number of centers that can provide computer-based tests (CBT), with the latest being in Banjul, Freetown, and Monrovia. We have also introduced QR codes for use during examinations, which has significantly improved the administration of our exams. Again, in the spirit of becoming more modern and important was the launch of our new 5-year strategic plan which will serve as our road map for the next few years. The plan has ambitious, yet achievable goals, and it is a testament to our desire to recommit to ongoing priorities while embracing new opportunities.

We all should be proud of the progress made as our College building in Abuja nears completion. It is indeed a great achievement and an investment well made. I would personally like to thank those that have contributed financially to the construction of this magnificent edifice. I pray that you remain blessed. I would also like to encourage those that are yet to contribute or complete their contributions to do so as we still need to furnish the buildings.

As we are about to begin a new year, I would like to encourage you to continue the good work and embrace these new and exciting innovations.

On behalf of the WACP leadership, I would like to wish you all a fantastic, prosperous, and blessed 2024!
