Laboratory Medicine
Faculty Mission
Faculty Goal
Challenge
Train laboratory physicians to lead clinical laboratories and enhance disease diagnosis, management, and prevention in the Sub-region.
To produce specialists with in-depth knowledge of disease mechanisms, environmental and genetic interactions, and the role of laboratories in healthcare.
The West African sub-region faces a shortage of laboratory physicians, leading to substandard clinical laboratory services, particularly in tertiary hospitals. This shortage affects the diagnosis and management of both infectious and non-communicable diseases.
